🌸#HappyApril | Creating BALANCE is the GOAL!

This month is all about flowers, positive energy & creating BALANCE!

Balance is a neutral state. It is neither over-aroused or under-aroused. It is a place of stability and contentment that is free from stress. Ideally. But let’s be honest, sometimes it can feel like we’re chasing a lofty dream. And maybe it is, but we can at least get super duper close if not right where we want to be. Look, life is messy sometimes, but we wouldn’t know how awesome it is to have everything in alignment if we never experienced a few rough patches. Trust, even the most put-together of us feel undone at times. So let’s not look at the end results of others and feel envious when we don’t know all of the struggles that came with getting where they are. Trust your process and walk your path at your stride and balance, love, peace, support, joy, laughter and goodness will come for you.

When you’re on the hunt for balance and agreement in your life there are a few things that can be helpful. Nothing truly great and worthwhile is ever accomplished in a day, so give yourself some grace and patience as you actively work towards finding balance in your life. Here are a few suggestions on how you can find some level ground.

Prioritize
It helps to make a list of goals, tasks, and people. It’s easier to order your affairs when you know exactly who and what you’re dealing with. Prioritize your career goals and schedule, prioritize your personal goals and prioritize the people in your life, yourself included. If you want to put yourself, your significant other or your children first, that’s your prerogative and you can do what you want to do. Don’t feel shame or apologize for your priorities. I have to be honest with you, I struggle with putting myself high up on my list many days. With children, a husband and a declining parent it’s just not that simple for me, but I’m still a work in progress. If you’re anything like me and struggle to give yourself a higher priority and sometimes suffer for it, keep pushing forward because tomorrow is another chance to rearrange your list.

There are plenty of aspects of your life that will need prioritizing, and although it may sometimes seem that there just isn’t enough time in the day, you may be surprised at what you accomplish when you set your mind to it. There’s your spiritual health, your physical health, your emotional health, your personal relationships, your work relationships and whatever else you have on your plate. Once you take the time out to strategize your healing and your pursuit of balance, many things will become clearer and start to take shape.

Get Enough Sleep
It’s a proven fact that when our bodies are well-rested, we are more clear-headed, alert and less stressed. Our busy modern lives don’t really leave a lot of time for sleep, and if you’re a parent or a caretaker you already know quality sleep can be difficult to come by. But making sure you get enough sleep can do a lot for your emotional, mental and physical health. Finding the strength to actively seek balance is easier with a clear mind. In fact, it will get you one step closer to an agreeable status.

When we are asleep our brain is doing some very important work. It is repairing our tissues and cells, making memories concrete, consolidating information and breaking down excess cortisol (“the stress hormone”), other hormones and chemicals so that they can be eliminated from the body properly. The average adult needs between 7 and 9 hours of sleep each night. This gives your body a chance to recover from the day and prepare for a new day. You may have heard it said, “Sleep when you’re dead,” but taking this attitude towards sleep just might have you transition sooner than later. Give your body the care it needs so that it can give you the energy you need to do all the things that are important to you.

Drink More Water
Keeping hydrated can help fuel your day. You can make your water a little more interesting by adding lemon, lime, mint, strawberries, quartz or another crystal, fruit or herb. You’ll be adding a little natural flavor and getting some positive energy, minerals, and vitamins with these additions. When your cells are dry and screaming out for water, you may notice that you’re a little groggy, fatigued or dry. Our bodies retain more water when we aren’t getting enough water, because it doesn’t know when more water is coming it's way. Constipation, itchy and dry skin, and indigestion may be a problem for you.

If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, increasing your water intake can make a big difference. When your body is working well, finding balance can be a little easier. Making little changes to your daily habits will make big differences in how you go about your daily living. Healthier habits can free you of some of the burdens that are keeping you from getting to a state of balance.

Remember that you are important and that you are worthy of the peace and joy that comes with finding balance. Yoga, meditation, exercise, journaling, self-care, these are all tools that you can use to help you get to a more balanced state. Take care, do well and be love.
